Busting 3 Popular Mobile App Development Myths
Busting 3 Popular Mobile App Development Myths

A typical mobile app developer would want his app to score big, getting downloaded by millions of users. This drives developers to create even better apps. The principle also applies to a mobile application development company. But the path to achieving just that is quite challenging and misleading.

A rookie developer might deviate from that path due to the various misconceptions surrounding the industry. When dealing with mobile technologies, you should also be aware of the potential pitfalls and myths.

Here are a few myths that still persist in the mobile application development Dubai sector.

#1. Pay-to-use apps is the best way you can make money

Rookie developers are often misled by hearsay that the best monetization option is to provide pay-to-download or pay-to-use apps. It is somewhat true but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best monetization option out there. Statistics say otherwise.

Apparently, developers can make more money with free apps. Statistics show that there have been only an estimated 3 billion paid app downloads, while the downloads for free apps were over 280 billion. Mobile users generally tend to go for free apps, and the ones providing the best experience at that.

#2. My idea. My app. My rules.

A developer who conceived an app might get too proud at some point to think this way. Going with gut instincts can make a difference sometimes, but in the digital realm of app development, that alone won’t be enough. The developer will have to rely on data research, analysis, mining, testing, getting input from customers, and informed decision-making.

The app may be their brainchild, but it doesn’t mean they should only go with their intuition. Facts and figures matter more, and can make a significant difference in the final version of the app.

#3. Aesthetically appealing apps will be well received no matter what

“If it pleases the eye, it will please the mind” – another myth many developers seem to believe in. They put in a lot of effort to make the app look impressive to users. Eye-candy does impress them but if the app doesn’t offer what they expect it to, they will start seeking a better one.

The app needs relevant content to be successful, and it should be displayed in a way that looks aesthetically pleasing. The looks may tempt a user to download the app, but it’s the engaging content that tempts the user to come back and use the app again. And when they come back again, they won’t mind seeing an ad if it serves them properly. Brimming with ads but lacking relevant content will only annoy the users after they use it for a while.
